Description

Fine Art Seaweed Prints are crafted from sustainably harvested seaweed gathered on UK shores.

In my approach to nature printing, I merge Gyotaku Art techniques with hand-painted Seaweed, forging new and unique contemporary Art.

Gyotaku, a traditional Japanese fish printing method dating back to the mid-1800s, was initially a way for fishermen to record their catches before the advent of photography, eventually evolving into an art form. The process involves applying sumi ink to one side of a freshly caught fish, covering it with rice paper, and rubbing it to transfer the fish’s impression.

This Gyotaku technique has been adapted to Seaweed, using it instead of fish, on Fine Art Natural White Cotton Rag Smooth 320gsm Paper. The prints are available unframed in A4 size.

Frames suitable for these A4 prints, measuring 30 x 40 cm, can be found at most high street stores.
