Fine Art Fish Prints have been created from original Gyotaku (Fish Pressing) Art.

Gyotaku is the traditional Japanese method of printing Fish a practise that dates back to the mid 1800’s. This form of nature printing was used by fishermen to record their catches (before photography) but became an Art form in its own right. Fishermen would apply Sumi ink to one side of a freshly caught fish then cover the fish with rice paper and rub to create an impression of the fish.

The fish is not wasted after the printing process as it can be an be washed with water while the ink/paint is still wet, filleted, cooked and enjoyed.

Fish Prints have been printed on Fine Art Natural White Cotton Rag Smooth 320grm Paper and are available Unframed in A3 and A4 size.

Suitable frames can be purchased from most High street stores. Frame size required for A3 Prints 40x 50cm with mount . A4 Prints 30 x 40 cm.
