Gyotaku
Gyotaku is the Japanese ancient Art of Fish rubbing a process used to record the type and size of Fishermen’s catch before photography was invented.
To create Gyotaku Art, Fish are painted with ink, covered with Washi paper and carefully rubbed so when the paper is removed a reversed printed impression of the fish is revealed.
The printed fish image is often enhanced with paint to add colour to the beauty of the fish.
